The 22 edition of   Kolkata International Film Festival was quite full of  glory and graced by distinguished great personalities of Bollywood Nagri. Opening ceremony was also  dignify by the shenshah of Bollywood Amitabh Bachchan ji,his wife and actress Jaya, superstar King Khan Shah Rukh, Sanjay Dutt, Parineeti Chopra and Kajol. An  accumulation of 155 films from 65 countries has been showcased  covering 13 venues at the city of India Kolkata International film Festival. 

Giving examples of Indian movies like the 1936 'Achhut Kanyya', Satyajit Ray's 'Ghare Baire' Gulzar's 'Aandhi' to recent movies like 'Lajja', 'Paa', 'Mardaani', 'Mary Kom', 'Queen', 'Piku' and the recent 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil', Amitabh Bachchan  point out how women's portrayal in Indian cinema have changed from the  unimaginative housewife to strong and independent characters fighting for their rights. But at the same time he  says i'm  upset that the issue of sexual violence and sexual consent has largely been ignored by the Indian film industry.

Shah Rukh, who is the Bengal ambassador, also  indicate in his speech in a smattering of Bengali. While his lecture was full of humour, Sanjay  explicit his gratitude to Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee for standing by him during the 'hardest of times’ of his life.
